Police today said the driver of the car was arrested for being involved in the alleged incident.
The incident took place at around noon yesterday when the car in which the boy was travelling took an illegal U-turn on Eastern Metropolitan bypass and the driver ignored the first flag down when intercepted by a traffic sergeant.
The traffic sergeant followed the two for some distance where the car took yet another illegal U-turn and he intercepted their vehicle again, a senior police officer told PTI.
The boy then allegedly abused the traffic sergeant and assaulted him, the said.
"Because he is a minor, as per rules he was forwarded to the juvenile justice court and later on allowed to return home," he said, adding, as per the juvenile justice rules, the teenager's name could not be included in the FIR registered at Garfa police station.
The driver who was arrested on charges of rash and negligent driving, obstructing policemen performing their duty, causing mischief, criminal intimidation and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
"We have been directed by the juvenile justice court to send a status report in connection with the incident within seven days," he said.
Depending on the report, the court would decide whether it would call the boy or not, he added.
The boy's mother had lodged a complaint with the same police station alleging misbehaviour and assault by the police.
