Taking a strong objection to the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association's (UPCA) move, BJP leader Sunil Bajaj said, the cricket stadium shouldn't be turned into a political battle field.
UPCA, which has got the stadium on lease for 30 years from the state government, has justified the decision to dress up the stadium in ruling Samajwadi Party's colours.
UPCA CEO, Lalit Khana said that besides red and green a stretch of the enclosures has been given yellow colour. The inspiration for the same was drawn from "traffic signal".
Talking about the outer walls, which have been also painted "red", the CEO said they have tendered the particular arena to an advertising agency and colour is of the company sponsoring it.
The Green Park is scheduled to host first ODI of the ongoing South Africa tour of India on October 11.
