The residence of Samuel Risom, Dewlahland MLA, was attacked at around 1 am, but there was no report of any casualty, police said, adding that the building and a car parked inside were damaged.
Risom (45) had been elected from Ukhrul assembly constituency in the last elections on Naga People's Front (NPF) ticket, but tendered his resignation along with three other NPF MLAs in the wake of tribal movement against the passing of Inner Line Permit System Bills last year.
An inquiry to ascertain the identity of the attackers has been initiated, the officer said.
