Groundnut stock gutted in fire at warehouse in Rajkot

A fire broke out in a warehouse near Gondal town in the district, gutting a huge stock of groundnut kept there, an official said today.
The blaze erupted last evening in the warehouse and nearly a dozen fire tenders were still engaged in hectic efforts to douse the flames, Rajkot rural superintendent of police Antrip Sood said.
The district administration has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, he said.
A team from the forensic science laboratory in Rajkot has also reached the spot.
The warehouse owner claimed that nearly two lakh sacks of groundnut, each containing 35 kgs of seeds, were kept in the store.

He said they were able to shift out some sacks after the mishap.
