Rupesh Shah became only the fifth Indian cueist to lift the world title twice after he beat Australia's Matthew Bolton 6-2 in the final of the World Billiards (point frame) in Leeds last month. In the quarterfinals, he had overcome renowned cueist Peter Gilchrist.
Recalling his playing days with Shah, Padma Shree Geet Sethi said "His achievement is special and exceptional because he played with a killer instinct. This was evident from his body language, demeanour and attitude."
The GSBA handed him a cheque of Rs 25,000 and a memento while the Sports CLub of Gujarat felicitated him with a cheque of Rs 2 lakh.
