Hoping that the bill will be passed unanimously, state Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu today said the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be implemented in the entire country from July 1 bringing a revolutionary change.
He said the GST will bring a uniform tax regime after incorporating different taxes in the Centre and the states and thus prevent tax evasion.
With the implementation of the GST, tax on consumer goods will be reduced which will benefit consumers. Apart from this, it will build up confidence among the entrepreneurs on the country's economy and also attract large scale foreign investment, the minister said.
The Haryana State University of Horticulture Sciences (Amendment) Bill and Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (Amendment and Validation) Bill, will also be presented in the Assembly.
As per the recommendation of the GST council all states are required to pass the bill before July 1 when the uniform tax regime comes into effect throughout the country.
The GST, which will replace a plethora of central and state taxes, is a consumption based tax levied on sale, manufacture and consumption on goods and services at national level.
Different indirect taxes like the central excise duty, the central sales tax and service tax are to be merged with C-GST while S-GST will subsume state sales tax, VAT, luxury tax and entertainment tax.
