The GST and the e-way bill system are encouraging companies to restructure the logistics strategy and save on costs, a city-based transportation firm has said.

This is creating new opportunities for long-distance logistics companies like Accutime, its director V V Rao said.

"With GST in place, companies are trying to centralise logistics operations, doing away with multiple warehouses in the country to fulfil local requirements. E-way bill has also made this possible," Rao told PTI.

There is increased demand from companies, including FMCG majors, for transportation of goods on a long-haul basis, he said.

Accutime, a direct-to-destination Less Than-Truck-Load (LTTL) service provider, can help companies save around 20 per cent on logistics outgo compared to express services, Rao claimed.

"The express cargo operators are unable to offer this service at competitive prices, and that is where we come into the picture," he said.

The company, which started operations on the Kolkata-Mumbai route, will soon add cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad, Rao said.

Accutime is aiming at Rs 350-crore revenue over the next three years, he said, adding, it clocked a topline of Rs 120 crore in the last fiscal.
