Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that Goods and Service Tax (GST) would help unearth black money and increase revenue.
The GST has targeted black money which runs a parallel economy in the country, Das said while speaking at a workshop on GST here.
"It will ultimately help in implementing development work faster and benefit the common people. Leakage will be stopped and revenue will increase," an official release said quoting the chief minister.
Some teething problems might arise in implementation of a law and the problems would be sorted out later, he said.
"A council has been constituted at central level and an advisory committee is working in the state. Businessmen will put forth their problems before these committees and the problems will be sorted out," Das said.
He appealed to all MLAs to understand GST well and disseminate it properly among the people and inspire businessmen to register with GST.
The government has also started a toll free number which can be helpful in sorting problems out.
Speaker Dinesh Oraon said that GST will prove beneficial in the development of the nation.
Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren said that the doubts regarding GST should be removed from the minds of the people.
