Guar seed prices rose by Rs 3.5 at Rs 3,947 per 10 quintal in futures trade on Friday after participants widened their holdings, driven by a firm trend in the spot market.
On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar seed contracts for November delivery went up by Rs 3.5, or 0.09, at Rs 3,947 per 10 quintal in 74,100 lots.
Similarly, guar seed for December delivery gained Rs 3, or 0.08 per cent, at Rs 3,999 per 10 quintal in 13,760 lots.
According to marketmen, raising of bets by speculators on thin supplies from growing belts mainly led to the rise in prices.
