Guar seed prices went up by Rs 15.50 to Rs 3,813 per quintal in futures trade today as participants widened their holdings in line with firm physical market trend.
Market players said raising of bets by participants, taking positive leads from the spot markets supported the upside in guar seed prices.
Limited supplies from growing belts against strong demand from guar gum makers also contributed to rise in prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar seed for the most-traded delivery in June contracts rose by Rs 15.50, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 3,813 per quintal, in a business turnover of 71,860 open lots.
In a similar fashion, the contract for delivery in far-month July moved up by Rs 14.50, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 3.861 per quintal with an open interest of 39,770 lots.
