The comic book adaptation is still collecting acclaim a year after its US theatrical release, reported Ace Showbiz.
The winners were announced on August 22 morning at the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention held in Spokane, Washington.
Director James Gunn, who also wrote the movie, is elated by the win.
"Oh my Gosh, this is so amazing," he posted on Twitter.
Meanwhile, "Orphan Black" took the category of Best Dramatic Presentation in the Short Form for the season 2 finale episode "By Means Which Have Never Been Tried".
There's a controversy that the awards excluded white males and conservatives in its list of nominees.
