Guilty will not be spared: Raj govt on girl student delivery

Rajasthan government today assured action against those found guilty in connection with the birth of a child to a 17-year-old girl student of a government residential school in Nagaur district.
"The girl was pregnant but the hostel warden could not notice it and did not inform her family so the warden was suspended on March 5.
"The school principal was also removed from posting and the matter is being investigated by the police," the state's Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Ashok Bairwa informed the Assembly.
"Her grandfather said that she was engaged to a boy and it was suspected that the newborn was fathered by her fiance and if we calculate timing of the delivery, it is likely that she conceived in May � June last year when the school remains off due to summer vacations," he said during Zero Hour after CPI(M) MLA Pemaram raised the issue.

The minister said the government was also considering a compensation for her.
The class XI student had on March 5 given birth to the baby boy in a bathroom of the hostel. She and the newborn were later taken home to Ladnu village by her family members, but the infant died yesterday.

Also during the Zero Hour, Minister of State for Relief Brijendra Ola said the government would make all efforts to provide relief to farmers following damage to crops due to rainfall and hailstorms last month.
In his statement, the minister said crops in 408 villages in 14 districts had suffered over 50 per cent damage due to hailstorm on February 15-16 and 22-23.

Earlier, the House condoled the death of former state minister Chetram Meena and the victims of the Hyderabad blasts and observed two minutes silence.
