Out of the total 82,048 houses, Gujarat has constructed 25,873 units since the launch of the scheme in June 2015, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Rajasthan was at second spot with the construction of 10,805 houses (or 13.17 per cent of the total), followed by Karnataka 10,447 (12.70 per cent), Tamil Nadu 6,940 (8 per cent) and Maharashtra 5,506 (6.7 per cent), Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu said in a written reply.
During the last three years, 3.55 lakh affordable houses have been built for urban poor including those sanctioned under UPA-II's Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme.
