Guj got no central funds for flood relief as demanded in 2015, '17

The Gujarat government today admitted in the Legislative Assembly that while the state demanded a Rs 2,094.92 crore flood relief package from the BJP-led central government last year, no funds had been received as of December.
The BJP government in the state also said that it had demanded Rs 4,473.47 crore as a relief package after the 2015 floods, but no funds were given.
Congress MLA Chandanji Thakor had sought to know whether the Centre alloted any funds for flood-relief as demanded by the state.
Thakor, who represents Siddhpur seat of Patan district, also asked whether these funds, if received, were alloted to Banaskantha and Patan districts which were affected the most during last year's floods.

In his written reply, Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel said no funds were alloted to the two districts, as the state government's demand for Rs 2,094.92 crore is "still under the consideration of the central government" as of December 2017.
To a similar question, Patel said though the state government had sought Rs 4,473.47 crore for flood relief in 2015, no funds were received even then.

Congress MLA from Patan, Kirit Patel, had sought details of central funds received for relief following the floods in 2015.
The minister's written reply said the state demanded Rs 4,473.47 crore through a proposal sent in September 2015.

However, citing some criterion about disbursement of relief funds, the Centre informed in December 2015 that Gujarat was not eligible to get the money, it said.
