Gujarat DGP PP Pandey today urged top cops of other states of western region to increase co-ordination and share vital data to ensure safety and security of citizens.
He was speaking at the western region co-ordination meeting of six states - Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh.
The meeting of senior police officers of these states was held at Gandhinagar, an official release said.
"In today's world, criminal activities are not limited to any one state due to advanced tele-communication and transportation services. Thus, it is necessary for various states to increase co-ordination among themselves and share data to stop such activities," said Pandey after the meet.
Those who attended the meet included DGP of Madhya Pradesh Rishi Kumar Shukla, Maharashtra DGP Satish Mathur, Additional DGP of Chhatisgarh Rajesh Mishra, ADGP of Rajasthan NRK Reddy along with many other senior officers from Gujarat.
The idea of such region-wise meetings of DGPs was floated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at All India DGP's conference held in Kutch last year.
The first meeting of western region was held in Mumbai few months back while this was the second such meet, it added.
