Three motorcycle-borne assailants shot at soldiers in front of a mosque where a prayer session was about to end in Okene town in Kogi State on Tuesday, said army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Olorunyomi.

Meanwhile, curfew has been placed on the town even as the police claimed that they have arrested some of the attackers of the church.

On Tuesday, 19 worshippers were killed when suspected members of Islamic Boko Haram sect opened fire inside a Deeper Life Church during a church service.

The attack took place a few hours after the group claimed responsibility for suicide attack which claimed lives of six military men and two civilian in Nigeria's northern city of Damaturu on Sunday.
