Gur slips on ample supply, weak demand

Gur prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following slackness in demand amid increased supplies.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a weak trend with prices falling up to Rs 100 per quintal on higher supplies against weak demand.
Marketmen said in addition to weak demand from stockists and retailers supply pressure from manufacturing areas mainly pulled down gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Shakkar prices slipped by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,700-2,800 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.
Similarly, gur pedi and Dhayya prices dipped by Rs.100 each to Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku and Khurpa fell from Rs 2,650-2,900 and Rs 2,500-2,600 to Rs 2,525-2,800 and Rs 2,450-2,525 per quintal, respectively.
Prices of gur Ladoo also dropped from Rs 2,750-2,800 to Rs 2,650-2,750 per quintal.
Turning to Muradnagar, prices of gur Dhayya weakened by Rs 75 per quintal at Rs 2,550-2,575 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700, chakku Rs 2,525-2,800, khurpa Rs 2,450-2,525 and Ladoo Rs 2,650-2,750.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,500-2,550 and dhayya Rs 2,550-2,575.
