Jammu and Kashmir government today decided to postpone the Gurez Tourism Festival as a mark of respect to the two youths allegedly killed in Army firing.
Official sources said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held discussions with tourism minister on holding the festival at Gurez and suggested it be postponed to a later date.
Accordingly, tourism minister G A Mir decided to postpone the two-day festival, which was scheduled to start on Wednesday.
The youths were allegedly killed in Army firing yesterday in Sumbal area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Gurez is close to the Line of Control and part of the same district.
Fresh dates for the event will be notified later, Mir said.
