According to the police, the accused has been identified as Kamal, who works as an auto rickshaw driver, and was arrested on Monday night from his residence in Dhundhera village.
The door of the house where the accused was staying had been locked from outside but he was caught after policemen saw him through the window, a police official said.
The accused had allegedly on Sunday evening raped a 7- year-old girl after taking her to a deserted place, the police said.
"Kamal had a couple of days ago, befriended the cousin of the victim when he saw them playing in the street. He took her cousin to sweet shops to become friendly with the children" Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sumit Kuhar, told PTI.
He than on Sunday took an opportunity and took the victim, away from her home, to deserted place where he raped her, left her bruised and escaped, Kuhar said.
"He was identified later from the CCTV footage and a combing operation by 20 police teams in nearby areas was launched. During these searches, the policemen came to suspect a house locked from outside. When they peeped inside from a window, they saw a man sleeping. The man was identified as Kamal by the victim's cousin," the officer added.
A 35-year-old woman was abducted from Gurgaon and thrown out of a car in Greater Noida early today after being allegedly gangraped for hours by three men as they drove through the National Capital Region, according to the police.
