The administration has banned the sale of firecrackers in the district till November 1 following a Supreme Court order, and directed its officials inspect warehouses and shops.
District Magistrate Vinay Pratap Singh said that the move will help check air pollution which last year reached alarming levels during Diwali and the following day in the national capital region.
The officer said that air quality deteriorates "abysmally and alarmingly" during and after the festival due to burning of crackers.
"It leads to closing of schools and authorities have to take various measures immediately, when faced with heath emergency situations.
"The right to health coupled with the right to breathe clean air leaves no manner of doubt that it is important that air pollution deserves to be eliminated," he said.
The order to ban crackers comes after the Supreme Court's directions banning sale of crackers in Delhi and the national capital region.
"Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed as a precaution and for peaceful celebration of Deepawali. The sale of firecrackers in the district will be banned till October 31," Singh said.
"We have directed all authorities to implement the directions of the Supreme Court and get firework godowns and shops inspected. Teams will ensure no cracker is allowed to enter and exit the district.
