Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra today took up the issue of police modernisation with Union Home Secretary Rajeev Gauba.
Issues such as law and order situation and counter insurgency operations in the state also came during their meeting at Raj Bhavan.
Mishra pointed out that once the issues such as counter insurgency operation and police modernisation were addressed in correct perspective, peace would return to the three disturbed districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, a Raj Bhawan communique said.
The governor urged the union home secretary to sanction funds for purchasing arms, vehicles and other equipment to tackle law and order and effective counter insurgency operation in the three disturbed districts, Raj Bhawan sources said.
In order to tackle the special problems faced in the districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, the Centre had already sanctioned a package to strengthen the security apparatus in these districts.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to the state in February announced taking up construction and upgradation of 20 police stations and other infrastructure in these three districts at a cost of Rs 156.2 crore.
