"The class 10th history text book says that Tatya Tope was hanged in Shivpuri (by the British) while the standard 12th book states that Tope was not hanged, and in his place someone else was hanged," the Governor said, addressing Devi Ahilyabai Vishwa Vidyalaya's Foundation Day function here.
"When I wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the government replied that the books for the current year were already going to the press, but the mistake would be rectified next year," he said.
Yadav also said on the occasion that he should not be addressed as 'Mahamahim' (his excellency) as he was the "servant of the people".
He also recalled the former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, and said on an emotional note that it was difficult to find an honest person like him in the present times.
