An official release said that the demolition was carried out on the banks of the Mora Bharalu, Basistha and Bahini rivers, flowing through the city.
A large number of policemen were present during the demolition.
The Kamrup Metro district administration was carrying out the drive with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority and Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
Nine persons had died in the floods and landslide last month in Guwahati.
