Festival chairman Sunit Jain said today that the event aims to provide a platform to world-class performing groups to showcase their productions before a new audience in the region.
Quasar Thakore Padamsees 'Mother Courage and Her Children', featuring veteran theatre personality Arundhati Nag, will be staged on the opening day, Jain said.
Five acclaimed plays will be presented at the theatre festival from November 1 to 5.
'Broken Images', featuring Shabana Azmi, written by Girish Karnad and directed by Alyquee Padamsee will be staged on the second day.
'The Gentlemans Club', a take on legendary actor Shammi Kapoors colourful life during the 70s, will be another highlight of the festival.
This festival will provide learning opportunities to the youth through workshops and interactions with visiting experts who are globally acknowledged personalities in theatre, Festival director Asha Kuthari Chaudhuri said.
This edition of the festival will feature performances by various college-based theatre groups from the city who have been shortlisted after a round of nominations and auditions, she said.
