The Dustin Lance Black directed film is based on the popular novel of the same name by Jennifer E Smith, Variety reported.
The story, set over a 24-hour-period, follows Steinfeld's character being stuck at John F Kennedy Airport and late to her father's second wedding in London.
She meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area and they wind up seated next to each other on the flight.
