To provide free health services to the poor, the Haryana government will implement a health insurance scheme in the state, for which it will bear the cost of premium.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also said the state was establishing medical colleges in every district to meet the shortage of doctors in government hospitals.
"As many as 28 colleges will be established in the state over the next two years, which would help meet the requirement of 17,000 doctors," said Khattar, who was speaking after inaugurating a medical college and hospital at Mohri village in Kurukshetra district.
He said private organisations have been invited to establish Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) colleges in the state.
The Haryana government is also looking to provide modern healthcare services through medical colleges, he said.
"In this direction, it has been decided to start specialist courses in disciplines such as neurosurgery, neurology and pathology in Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak in 2017-18. Dental Nursing and Physiotherapy courses would be started in medical college in Nuh," he said.
Social service organisations are installing MRI and CT scan machines in government hospitals in five districts on PPP model, Khattar said.
The chief minister said work has been completed on 1,800 of the 3,600 announcements made so far by him, and the remaining announcements would be executed by the end of the year.
