Police said that SI Dharambir was missing while bodies of the two women have been fished out from the canal on Sonipat district and two others were rescued.
"Five persons including Dharambir were travelling in the car. While two women died in the incident, search was still on to trace the cop. One male and one woman were saved after divers were pressed into service," Baroda SHO Veer Bhan said over the phone.
Gohana (city) SHO Kuldeep Singh said divers, a crane and necessary aid were immediately pressed into service after police received information of the accident.
"The family was travelling from Jind and Gohana when the accident took place," he said.
