A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet presided by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh.

An amendment in Haryana Legislative Assembly (Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members) Act, 1975, was approved by the cabinet for the purpose, an official spokesman said.

The meeting also made a provision to provide facility to MLAs and ex-MLAs to travel free of cost by executive class and in air-conditioned coaches of the railways.

The Centre had yesterday announced a series of austerity measures, including banning of holding of meetings and functions in five-star hotels and purchase of new cars.
