Haryana Agriculture and Irrigation Minister O P Dhankar today said a scheme has been prepared for remodelling the entire canal system to prevent leakage of water.
He further said schemes for groundwater recharge are also being promoted.
For this, 390 injection bore wells have been dug, he said in a release.
In view of summer season, Superintending Engineers had been ordered to ensure supply of drinking water and canal water on priority basis, minister said.
Dhankar said Haryana has excellent water management with 1,400 canals of total length of 14,000 kms.
Last year, water was made available for irrigation in spite of the deficient monsoon.
Dhankar said that according to the Meteorological Department, monsoon would be good this year which would lead to good crop.
Water inflow from Rajasthan in rivers Krishnawati, Kuksi and Sabi in Narnaul has been reduced due to construction dam, he said.
In case surplus water is available during monsoon, the government would arrange for recharge of water.
Dhankar said that compensation amounting to Rs 967 crore had been paid to the farmers whose cotton crops were damaged by Whitefly.
The farmers would be encouraged to grow 'Desi Cotton' instead of BT-Cotton which has been the cause of Whitefy attack, he added.
