Under the scheme, paddy, bajra, maize and cotton crops would be covered during Kharif season and wheat, gram, barley and mustard would be covered during Rabi 2017-18, a spokesman of State's Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department said here today.
He said that PMFBY would be implemented via a cluster approach.
Under Cluster I, the scheme in districts of Sirsa, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panchkula and Rewari would be implemented by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited.
The scheme would be implemented by Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited in these clusters, he said.
He said that this year too the farmers would have to pay only two per cent premium of sum insured for Kharif crop and one per cent premium of sum insured for Rabi crop.
The maximum amount of premium for paddy would be Rs 1,430 per hectare, bajra Rs 670 per hectare, cotton Rs 1,380 per hectare, maize Rs 720 per hectare, wheat Rs 907.50 per hectare, barley Rs 502.50 per hectare, gram Rs 390 per hectare and mustard Rs 540 per hectare.
The spokesman said that all farmers including share-croppers and tenant farmers cultivating the notified crops in the insurance unit would be eligible for coverage under the scheme.
All farmers availing seasonal agriculture operations loans from financial institutions for the notified crops would be covered compulsorily. The scheme would be optional for the non-loanee farmers, he said.
He added that the last date for enrollment under the scheme would be July 31, 2017.
