Haryana Health Min for drive against sale of illegal drugs

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has directed Health Department officials to launch a special drive to prevent the sale of illegal drugs in all districts of the state.
Vij said that the state government would not allow the sale of banned drugs in the state and such people would be strictly dealt with.
He said that all preventive measures would be taken to save the youth from falling under the influence of drug abuse.
The state government would soon formulate a new youth policy, in which youth would be encouraged for seeking employment opportunities and would be encouraged in areas like social service, politics, sports, art and others, he said, according to an official release here.

While taking action to control the sale of illegal drugs, the Food and Drugs Administration has raided various districts of the state and has recovered banned drugs of about Rs two lakh from over two dozens of commercial places recently, he said.
The Administration has raided shops in Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Karnal and Yamunanagar districts touching the border of Punjab.

The FDA has raided 20 sites in Fatehabad and has recovered banned capsules, tablets and other drugs in large quantities, Vij, who recently had a spat with former SP of Fatehabad district Sangeeta Kalia after a NGO levelled charge of police failure to prevent sale of illicit drugs in that area, said.

"Similarly, about half dozens of shops have been raided in Assandh of Karnal district and 9,000 tablets of banned drugs and other drugs in large quantity were recovered," he added.
The Health Minister said that similarly, many places had been raided in Yamunanagar where banned drugs were recovered.
