Haryana plans to amend Cow Slaughter Act

The Haryana government plans to amend the Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955 to make its implementation more effective and deterrent, State Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said today.
Speaking at Gau Seva Kendra in the village of Sankhaul in Bahadurgarh, he said that suggestions had been invited from the people of the state, voluntary organisations and cow welfare organisations on the proposed amendment.
The state government is committed to protecting the cow, he said, according to an official release here.
The Agriculture Minister appreciated the efforts of the managers of Gau Seva Kendra and announced Rs 2.51 lakh for cows which are suffering at the centre.
