Haryana Police today claimed to have busted a debit and credit card-cloning gang and arrested their four members.
The police began investigation into the matter when a woman from Gurugram registered a complaint in which she alleged that someone had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from her account through ATM.
"We arrested the accused today. He has been identified as Ajay Raghav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He is the kingpin of the gang," Haryana Police Department spokesman said here.
Three others, who have been arrested, are Sanjay from Rajasthan, Rahul Yadav from Rewari and Sonajit from Gurugram.
He said during interrogation, Raghav admitted to having withdrawn money from different bank accounts through ATM after cloning more than 50 debit and credit cards.
"These accused had cloned debit and credit cards at PVR, Gurugram and various other places," he said.
The equipment used to clone debit and credit cards, laptops, and other equipment have been seized. Further investigation into the case is under progress, he added.
