Haryana to develop pilgrimage sites: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that development of all pilgrimage sites located within a radius of 48 km of Kurukshetra would be carried out.
These would include Pandu Pindara of Jind and all pilgrimage sites of Kaithal, he said adding that possibilities of bringing Phalgu Tirath under the jurisdiction of Kurukshetra Development Board would also be explored.
He offered prayers during the fair organised at the famous Phalgu Tirath, village Pharal, in district Kaithal today.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that to facilitate the pilgrims who come to the fair, the Dhand-Pundri road would be widened to 10 meters at a cost of Rs 3 crore and central divider would be constructed and lights installed.

Additionally, the Kaithal-Kurukshetra road and all roads connecting other districts across the State would be widened to 10 meters.
He said that the Government had given a sum of Rs 4.26 crore for the development of Phalgu Tirath and restoration work would start soon.

A sum of Rs 54 lakh is also available for the fair, which would be used for development works. The entire earning from the fair would be used to develop the streets of village Pharal and Phalgu Tirath, he added.
He also announced that a sum of Rs 25 lakh would be given for the reconstruction of the dilapidated building of the Primary Health Centre in the village and said that the Googa Maadi-Pharal-Karnal road would be widened to facilitate the pilgrims.

Besides, the stadium in village Pharal would be converted to a gymnasium and facility of coach would be provided.
Regarding increase in electricity tariffs in the State, he said that the tariffs were decided by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission.
During the previous governments' regime, the power corporations were burdened with debt to the tune of Rs 28 crore to Rs 30 crore, he said.
The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission has been asked by the Government to reconsider the hike in power tariffs but the final decision in this matter would be taken by the Commission, he said.
The Chief Minister said that teachers were facing difficulties due to the irregularities in recruitment committed by the previous government.

However, the present State Government would conduct recruitment on the basis of merit and the recruitment process of 12,000 teachers has already been started.
