The Supreme Court today said that any legal issue arising out of the case of alleged rape of a 21-year-old MBA student of a private university in Haryana would be dealt with by the trial court concerned.
"Parties can move application before the trial court for any remedy in future," a bench comprising Justices J S Khehar and A K Goel said.
The apex court disposed of the petition filed on behalf of the woman by reposing faith in Haryana Police to carry forward the prosecution in the case.
Earlier, the court had said it was not averse to handing over the investigation of the case to CBI after the woman's counsel had complained that Haryana Police was not carrying out the probe in a fair manner.
However, today after noting that the charge sheet in the case has been filed and charges have been framed for taking forward the trial, the bench said the woman could directly move the trial court if she faced any problem.
The bench declined to go into other issues raised by the parties.
The Supreme Court had on May 20 agreed to urgently hear the plea of the alleged victim, a student of a Hisar-based university, seeking CBI probe into the case.
She had alleged that she was blackmailed by seniors who took her nude photographs and forced to her to get into physical relationship with them.
It was alleged that she was repeatedly raped on the campus and outside by three seniors who had threatened to circulate the pictures in public.
It was submitted that the police were destroying electronic evidence like laptops and mobile phones through which photographs were shared by the accused with other students.
