Government has nominated Financial Services Secretary Hasmukh Adhia as a director on the central board of directors of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
His nomination is effective from November 11, 2014, RBI said in a release today.
"The Central Government has nominated Hasmukh Adhia, Secretary, Department of Financial Services ...As a director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India," RBI notification said.
Earlier, ex-Financial Services Secretary Gurdial Singh Sandhu was on the central board of directors of the RBI.
In a major bureaucratic reshuffle recently, Hasmukh was appointed the Financial Services Secretary earlier this month.
His appointment was the third secretary level change in the Finance Ministry after Former Revenue Secretary Rajiv Takru was shifted to Department of North Eastern Region and Former Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram was first shifted to Tourism Ministry and later to Minority Affairs Ministry.
Adhia is a 1981 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer.
