The 43-year-old actor says there is still a long way to go before the final script is ready as there are several stages involved in the process.
"I have not been approached. Even I heard they are working on the script. It is the best way to go about things. First you need to write the script, re-work on lots of things.
"First draft, second draft, once the final script is ready then you visualise which actors fits the role in that particular script they've written," Sonu told PTI in an interview.
The second instalment was helmed by Arbaaz Khan, who recently announced that work on "Dabangg 3" has started.
The "Happy New Year" star says he would love to be a part of the third instalment of the action-drama franchise.
"I am glad they are writing the script. I am sure they will take the best call, which will be good for the film. I would love to be part of 'Dabangg 3'. I have a great rapport with the family (Salman's).
The horror-comedy will be released across three languages, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on October 7.
