'Hawala' money seized from bus passenger in TN

Hawala money to the tune of Rs 67 lakh has been seized and a man taken into custody here, Customs officials said Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials stopped a bus bound for Thiruvadanai in the district from Chennai this morning.

They took the man into custody and seized from him the notes in various denominations, the officials said.

The money was being transported for a person in Thondi, they said.

Hawala is a method of transferring money without any actual movement.
