HC asks DSLSA if cops equipped to probe cases of crime against

The Delhi High Court today asked the legal services authority to find out whether the crime team of city police is equipped with all necessary equipment and if they carry out investigation in a scientific manner in all cases, especially in crimes against women.
A bench of justices B D Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva asked the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) to carry out the exercise after Delhi Police in an affidavit placed before the court claimed its crime teams have all necessary equipment and carry out probe in a scientific and proper manner.
The court also granted DSLSA more time to file standard operating procedures (SOPs) for one-stop centres (OSC) set up to provide assistance to the victims of crimes against women.

DSLSA said it is in the process of formulating the SOPs for OSC and only one last meeting of all the stakeholders is to be held and sought more time to file its report.
On February 11, DSLSA had said the final and mutually accepted SOPs would be placed before the court soon as it has held meetings with all stakeholders on the issue.
The submission was made by DSLSA in its affidavit indicating the decisions arrived at in the two meetings with Delhi Police, Department of Health Services, Directorate of Prosecution, Delhi Commission for Women and two NGOs -- Lawyers Collective and Haq.

The court was hearing a plea filed by Nandita Dhar through advocate Gaurav Bansal against incidents of eve-teasing in the national capital.
