Banerjee, nephew of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and also an MP, was slapped by a youth as he was addressing a public meeting at Chandipur in East Midnapore district on January five.
The youth was then beaten up by some people.
A petition in this regard was moved before the court of Justice Soumitra Pal today seeking proper investigation and punishment to those involved in beating up the youth, Debasish Acharya.
