HC dismisses PIL concerning Shapoorji Pallonji and Company

The Bombay High Court today dismissed a public interest litigation which sought a CBI probe into alleged financial transactions between the suspended deputy collector of neighbouring Raigad district Nitish Thakur, and Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Ltd.
The division bench headed by Justice P V Hardas dismissed the PIL, after prosecutor Aruna Pai informed that anti-corruption bureau was already probing a disproportionate assets case against Thakur.
She also told the court that as Thakur was absconding, appropriate proceedings had been initiated.
Petitioner and former journalist Ketan Tirodkar had alleged that there were financial transactions between Thakur and the company, which needed to be probed.

The petition relied on an Income Tax report which alleged that payment to the tune of crores of rupees was made by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company to Thakur, and a remand application of ACB which said that Thakur had received Rs 146 crore from the company.
