HC disposes off state appeal

The Kerala High court today disposed off a writ appeal filed by the state government against the order of a single judge directing seizure telephone records of Salim Raj, former gunman of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who was suspended after his name figured in the solar panel scam.
When the matter came up before a division bench comprising justice K M Joseph and Justice A Hariprasad, Advocate General, K P Dandapani, told the court that already there was an order of the single judge to preserve the telephone conversation records of Salim Raj.
In the light of this order, the bench disposed off the appeal.

The state government had filed the appeal after a single judge directed the state police chief to seize the telephone conversation records, including the voice records of Salim Raj and others allegedly involved in two land grabbing cases in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. The bench had stayed the single order's on the appeal.
By disposal of the appeal, the stay against the single judge's order stands vacated.
