The Delhi High Court today extended the interim bail of former IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar, INLD member Sher Singh Badshami and O P Chautala's former Officer on Special Duty Vidya Dhar who have been awarded 10 years each in prison in the teachers recruitment scam case.
Justice Siddharth Mridul extended the interim bail of Kumar, Badshami and Vidya Dhar to December 5, November 28 and December 12, respectively, after CBI sought more time to verify the claims made by them in their applications for extension of bail.
All the three have sought extension of their bail on medical grounds.
Meanwhile, advocate Amit Sahni, appearing for former Haryana Chief Minister O P Chautala, informed the court that the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Chief's plea for regular bail is still pending before it.
Chautala had surrendered at Tihar jail on October 11 after the High Court cancelled his interim bail on October 10 for flouting bail conditions by campaigning for his party.
On July 11, the High Court had reserved its verdict on the appeals of 55 convicts, including Chautala and his son Ajay, in the case.
On January 22, 2013, a special CBI court had convicted and sentenced the Chautalas and eight others to 10 years jail term each for illegally recruiting 3,206 junior teachers in 2000.
Among other convicts, 44 were sentenced to four years in jail and one to five-year jail term.
All of them were held guilty of cheating, forgery, using fake documents as genuine, conspiracy under IPC and of abusing their official position under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
