When the petition seeking action against sub-judge of Tindivanam came up for hearing, Justice G Chokkalingam issued notices to the Director General of Police and the Superintendent of Police, Villupuram.
Tindivanam Advocates Association President K G Subbiayya in his petition submitted that normally portraits of Mahathma Gandhi, Ambedkar and Tamil saint-poet Tiruvalluvar were put up in courts in Tamil Nadu.
He alleged that on May 5 when the Court assembled for the day, the Sub-Judge asked his office Assistant to remove the Portrait of Ambedkar alone.
The petitioner further claimed that as the Presiding Officer belonged to a dominant caste, his continuance in the post would create no confidence in the minds of litigant public and sought for a direction from the high court for legal action.
