The Rajasthan High Court today issued notices to the state authorities on a PIL over alleged police "inaction" and insensitivity to a four-year-old rape victim in Sikar district.
The PIL filed by Prahlad Sharma , advocate and Secretary of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur, alleged that the police have failed to initiate immediate effective action despite the victim having gone missing on September 10.
The notices were issued to the state chief secretary, the Home Department, the Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Department and Sikar district Superintendent of Police among others.
The incident took place when she was sleeping on a pavement with her mother and the accused allegedly lifted the girl and raped her in an isolated area.
Earlier on Wednesday, police arrested a person from Nokha Bikaner as a suspect who is alleged to have admitted to have committed the crime.
