The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court today ordered a CB-CID probe into the missing certificates of five B.Ed students of a private college in Karur district.
Passing the interim order on a contempt petition by the students who passed out of the MSES College of Education at Thanthonrimalai in 2012, Justice S Nagamuthu directed the Superintendent of Police of CB-CID to investigate the matter. Karur CB-CID DSP should supervise the investigation and file a report on August 19, the court said.
The order was passed after the former and the present Inspector of Pasupathi Palayam station, who appeared in the court, denied having seized the certificates as charged by the college Correspondent (administrator).
After going through the case diary, the judge reprimanded the two police inspectors for "sleeping over" the complaint given by the students who charged that the college management was refusing to give back their certificates and demanding Rs.30,000 additional payment though they had paid all fees.
The students, including M.Sankar and Kavitha, have filed the contempt plea against the college for not implementing the court's October 3, 2013 order directing it to hand over the withheld certificates such as mark sheets and degree.
During the hearing of the case yesterday, the Judge, taking into consideration the plight of the students who have come here from Salem and Dharmapuri for the court hearing, had directed the college correspondent to pay Rs.10,000 to the petitioners to facilitate their stay and cover transportation charges.
