The Kerala High Court today directed the government to close down unregistered slaughter houses in the state.
The High Court issued this direction while considering a batch of petitions filed in 2004 complaining functioning of large scale unauthorised slaughter houses in the state.
Justice A M Muhammed Mushtaq in his order directed the authorities to set up at least one slaughter house for three gram panchayats each.
Earlier, the High Court had issued directions to stop open display of meat in stalls.
