The court was passing interim orders on a petition by B Pavithra, daughter of Dharmapuri MLA A Baskar.
The girl submitted that she had married Arul Prakash from her community on November 11 in Yercaud against her parents' wishes.
"On coming to know of the marriage, my parents by using their political influence, engaged henchmen to chase us and separate us in one way or the other and thus we are being threatened by my parents," she said.
When the matter came up for hearing, Justice K K Sasidharan directed the Salem Police Commissioner to provide protection to the petitioner and adjourned the matter to November 28.
