Shocked to find four pages of his Plus Two exam answersheets carrying 40 potential marks missing, an engineering course aspirant has sought the Madras High Court's help to trace them and revise his marks so that he could get into a top college.
Admitting the petition filed by the student's father Ponnusamy, Justice Ravichandra Babu of the Madurai Bench of the court today ordered the Director of Government Examinations to investigate into the complaint and file a report within two weeks.
The petitioner of Pudukottai claimed his son, Prakash, had been a school topper in class X with 475 marks and was shocked to get only 1,080 out of 1200 marks and 153 out of 200 in mathematics in Plus Two board examination.
When he applied for the scan copy of the answerscripts by remitting the prescribed fee, he could not download the copy of maths paper.
The District Chief Educational Officer, whom he later moved, furnished him the photocopy of his answersheet. But he found four pages were missing.
The CEO told him that he had given the copies as received by him and he could not do anything. The four pages contained answers for all 40 one-mark questions and one six mark question.
The petitioner further submitted that his son had scored 97 out of 100 in ten mark and 56 out of 60 in six mark sections and hence it was highly improbable that he would have scored zero in all the 40 one-mark questions.
He had attempted all the 40 mark questions correctly and was confident that he would score full marks.
If 46 marks had been allotted to him, his total would have gone up considerably and he would have got into top engineering colleges.
Holding the examination department solely responsibile for the missing answersheets, he sought a direction to it to rectify its mistake.
