The court also gave credit to the Delhi Traffic Police for bringing this change.
"The habit of people on roads is improving. There is reduction in blowing horns, people are using seat belts and a little better lane-driving. Even the foot-over-bridges (FOB) and subways now look tidy.
"Delhi is improving in terms of traffic sense. May be its a compliment to the traffic police," a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar said.
The court sought response of the Delhi government on the plea and asked it to file a status report explaining steps to be taken for adequate FOBs and subways.
The plea filed by MCD Councillor Abhishek Dutt claimed that he received various complaints from the residents of Ayur Vigyan Nagar, Sadiq Nagar in South Delhi demanding FOB in the interest of road safety of residents and pedestrians.
The Congress leader said in the plea that absence of FOB and higher railing on dividers on the August Kranti Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and Josip Broz Tilo Marg pose a safety hazard to pedestrians and residents of the nearly areas.
